Marking a new schedule following the implementation of the Universityโ€™s four-day work week, the Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU) convenes today, 17 March, for a simultaneous flag-raising ceremony.

With Saturdays, Sundays, and Mondays designated as non-working days, the weekly flag-raising ceremony is now officially conducted every Tuesday, signifying the Universityโ€™s continued advocacy of public service. Faculty members, administrative staff, and students participate in this activity, which manifests their shared values and dedication as the University implements this progressive mode of work arrangement.

University President, Dr. Silverio Ramon D.C. Salunson, stresses in his speech the observance of austerity measures across all offices and units of the University. For instance, he highlights cost-saving measures for travel. Personnel are encouraged to commute when traveling alone, even for official business, as carpooling is currently advised.

After the ceremony, Dr. Milani C. Petero, Principal of TAU - Laboratory School (LS), announces that the University will be participating in the Science and Technology Youth Leadership Encampment (STYLE) on 23-25 May.

Meanwhile, Dr. Leonell P. Lijauco, the Vice President for Planning and Quality Assurance (VPPQA), joins the College of Agriculture and Forestry (CAF) during their flag-hoisting ceremony and reminds the faculty members of the new guidelines on Flag-Raising Ceremony Attendance and Work Schedule.

At the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS), joined by the College of Engineering and Technology (CET) and the College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM), the ceremony is attended by the Vice President for Finance and Administration (VPFA), Dr. Arnold R. Lorenzo, and the Vice President for Research Extension, and Training (VPRET), Dr. Edmar N. Franquera. The ceremony is led by CVM, followed by a VetMed parade and the kickoff of its week-long activities.

Dr. Arnold R. Lorenzo discusses updates about the compressed four-day work week, stating that once approved by the Board, it will be implemented next semester. He further explains that Monday is considered a non-working day to accommodate the NSTP program and graduate program, while emphasizing the need to solicit feedback to further enhance the policy.

Reaffirming its commitment to disaster resilience, Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU), in partnership with the Office of Civil Defense (OCD), actively joins the 1st Quarter National Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) on 12 March.

The University Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (UDRRMO) leads the exercise, conducting evacuation drills to showcase the institution's swift and organized response. Coordinating through a centralized hub, the UDRRMO effectively links TAU's administrative and security units to its employee and student bodies to ensure seamless communication and resource management.

By prioritizing proactive preparedness and cross-unit collaborations, TAU not only enhances its emergency readiness but also serves as a model for community-based disaster mitigation in academic institutions.
